Wounded Warrior Project - 2009
The Wounded Warrior Project assists the men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. The WWP Soldier Ride is a rehabilitative cycling program for wounded warriors. For many of these combat-wounded veterans, Soldier Ride provides the first steps in the return to an active lifestyle.
2009 marks the second annual Soldier Ride on Long Island, departing from the Town of Babylon town hall, riding down to Overlook Beach on the south shore. Actor Matthew Modine, best known for roles in "The Memphis Belle" and "Full Metal Jacket", is a supporter of WWP, and attended the fund raiser dinner held at the American Airpower Museum.
Soldier Ride is not about politics; it's not about the war. It's simply about the soldiers.
